Contraindications to frenectomy

⚠️ Gag reflex still present

The presence of an active gag reflex is a temporary contraindication to frenectomy.

⚠️ Facial hypersensitivity

Significant facial hypersensitivity requires preparatory work before any procedure.

⚠️ Baby who does not tolerate a finger in the mouth at all

Marked intolerance to intra-oral stimulation indicates a need for preparatory work with a professional (osteopath, lactation consultant, speech-language therapist) before considering a frenectomy.
